Morocco Receives 197 International Arrest Warrants in One Year, Justice Minister Reports

In the space of a year, Morocco has received 197 international arrest warrants issued by third countries against 21 orders issued by the kingdom, according to the Minister of Justice.
In his report on the mechanisms of international judicial cooperation submitted to parliament, Abdellatif Ouahbi revealed that Morocco has received 197 international arrest warrants issued by third countries in one year against 21 orders issued by the kingdom.
These figures concern the period from October 21, 2021 to September 12 last, during which the Ministry of Justice received 270 representations or judicial steps against 30 issued by the Moroccan authorities, 66 extradition requests for criminals sent by foreign countries, the report states.
For their part, the Moroccan judicial authorities have transmitted 74 requests. In addition, there are 43 official complaints received against 2 complaints sent. As for the number of requests for the expulsion of foreign prisoners to their country of origin, the total is 40 requests against 15 requests for the expulsion of Moroccan prisoners detained abroad to Morocco.
During the same period, the minister stressed, Morocco has strengthened bilateral judicial cooperation in the criminal field with several countries, whether by initiating proposals for draft agreements or by conducting consultations. Thus, a total of 11 draft agreements have been submitted with five countries including Colombia, Israel, the Dominican Republic, Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
