Morocco Reaffirms Non-Interference Policy Amid Algeria's Political Developments

The Moroccan authorities have once again reaffirmed their position on the events currently taking place in Algeria, speaking of "non-interference" in internal affairs.

"The Kingdom of Morocco has decided to maintain an attitude of non-interference with regard to the recent developments in Algeria, and has refrained from any comment on the subject," reacted the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This reaction from Morocco comes after several press articles published in France and Algeria "which seek to implicate the kingdom." "Despite this clear and constant posture, certain media published in France and Algeria stubbornly seek to implicate Morocco, attributing fallacious statements and positions devoid of any foundation to it," specifies the department of Nasser Bourita.

For the Moroccan ministry, "Morocco can only express its great astonishment at the publication of these articles attributing lying statements and far from any truth to Moroccan diplomacy," noting that "Morocco has neither to interfere in the internal developments that Algeria is experiencing, nor to comment on them in any way whatsoever. No statement has been made to any media, formally or informally."

Furthermore, the Moroccan authorities deny any contact "with Paris, or with any other European country or elsewhere, on this subject," rejecting "with force the lying allegation of coordination with other countries, particularly France, on the events in Algeria."

And to assure that Moroccan diplomacy "has appropriate channels to make known its positions which it has always had the courage to assume," calling on the media to respect "ethical and professional requirements."
