Morocco Rebukes Business Leader for Unauthorized Comments on Algeria

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has just publicly disavowed the President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Salaheddine Mezouar, following his statement on the internal situation in Algeria.
This behavior, described by the Ministry as irresponsible and thoughtless, questions the political class and public opinion about its real motivation and timing, the statement said.
For the Ministry, the CGEM "cannot in any way substitute for the Government of His Majesty the King in taking a position on international affairs, and in particular on the situation in the neighboring country," specifying that the Kingdom’s position on this matter is fixed and clear.
The statement concludes that "Morocco has in fact chosen not to intervene in the affairs of Algeria, by refraining from any comment. The country has no interest in interfering in the internal situation of the neighboring country or commenting on it."
