Morocco Ranks in Top 3 Retirement Destinations for French Seniors, Study Finds

Morocco remains in the top 3 of the best countries where French retirees settle. This is the result of the ranking of a French specialized website.
In total, more than one million seniors have already chosen to settle abroad to better live their retirement, or 7.6% of French retirees as of December 31, 2020, according to data from the CNAV which pays retirement pensions in 180 countries. Among those with a modest pension, which pushes them to spend their retirement abroad where they receive their pension, it is the cost of living and the non-application of deductions such as the CSG and the CRDS. The cost of living is 15% to 30% lower in countries accessible by car or within a maximum of six hours by plane from Toulouse, 50% cheaper even in some Southeast Asian countries, we are told.
The site retraitesansfrontieres.fr has published the Top 10 best destinations for retirees. Greece climbs to the top of the ranking, gaining six places. It is followed by Portugal, Morocco, Thailand, Mauritius, Senegal and Tunisia. Bali, the Dominican Republic and Spain close the podium.
