Morocco Ranks Among Top 5 Retirement Destinations for French Seniors, Study Finds

Morocco is among the top 5 best countries to retire for French retirees. This is the result of the ranking of a specialized website.
Paul Delahoutre, founder of the website retraitesansfrontieres.fr, defined 12 criteria such as cost of living, real estate value, medical care, but also cultural heritage and gastronomy, climate, infrastructure, to compile the ranking of the 10 best countries to retire for French retirees. The site also sent a questionnaire to 176 retirees wishing to go abroad, in order to understand why they consider a particular country as "a paradise for their retirement". "European countries come before the others, notes Paul Delahoutre. With Covid-19, retirees want to be sure they can easily return to France but also that they will benefit from a good healthcare system".
Morocco occupies the 4th place in the ranking of the best countries to retire for French retirees. It owes this position to its proximity to France, its climate, accessibility and leisure activities. Greece tops this ranking for its assets such as cultural heritage, safety and leisure. It is followed by Portugal (2nd, accessibility, safety and leisure), Spain (3rd, accessibility, infrastructure and medical care), Thailand (5th, cost of living, real estate and medical care), Mauritius (6th, security, natural heritage and integration) and Senegal (7th, climate, integration and real estate). Tunisia (climate, real estate and accessibility), Bali (cost of living, natural and cultural heritage) and the Dominican Republic (natural heritage, climate and leisure) complete the podium.
