Morocco Ranks 4th Among Top Destinations for Brussels Airport Travelers

Morocco is among the ten most popular destinations for travelers transiting through Brussels Airport in January, a consequence of the second week of the Christmas holidays.
Morocco is the fourth most popular destination for passengers arriving in Belgium, behind Spain, Germany and Italy. Out of the more than 1.5 million passengers recorded in January, up 8% compared to the same period in 2024, 17% come from Morocco. In Africa, the kingdom is at the top of the most sought-after destinations.
The flow of passengers at Brussels Airport experienced a temporary decline due to the strike on January 13. In addition, unfavorable weather conditions also affected some connections, particularly those with the United Kingdom and Ireland.
As for freight at Brussels Airport, it recorded an 8% increase, reaching nearly 60,000 tons. Regarding the volume of air freight, it increased by 11%, including a 9% increase in hold transport. While express courier services climbed by 20%, road transport fell by 9%.
During the period, some 14,457 aircraft made rotations to and from Brussels Airport, an increase of 7% compared to January 2023. While passenger traffic increased by 6%, cargo flights grew by 14% and the average load factor by 2.3%, reaching 131 passengers per flight.
