Morocco Ranks 4th Globally in Clementine and Mandarin Production

Just like last year, Morocco is the 4th largest producer of clementines and mandarins in the world.
Over the years, Moroccan production of tangerines, satsumas, clementines and mandarins has been increasing. From 2014 to date, Moroccan production has increased by 1.6% per year. With 1,282,706 tons, Morocco occupied the fourth place in the world ranking of the main producing countries of these fruits, explains the specialized website agrimaroc.
Data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) indicate that the kingdom produced 1,208,789 tons in 2018 on an area of 64,102 hectares (18.86 tons/ha). In 2020, through its Green Plan, Morocco has set a target of reaching 3 million tons and exporting 1 million tons.
With a production of 19,542,455.67 tons in 2019, China is at the top of the top 20 of the main producing countries of tangerines, satsumas, clementines and mandarins, followed by Spain, Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, Brazil, the United States, Japan, Italy, North Korea, Pakistan, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Iran, Algeria, Bolivia, South Africa. Greece and Taiwan close the podium.
