Morocco Ranked Among Top 10 Riskiest Countries for Solo Female Travelers

In some countries in the world, solo travel is strongly discouraged for women. Morocco is among the 10 most risky countries where it is dangerous for a woman to venture without company.
A recent study has made it possible to distinguish the risk-free countries from the highly risky ones for women who wish to travel solo. This scale of measurement includes the risk of assault and violence against them.
Morocco ranks 8th globally and 2nd among Arab countries. The risk is higher at night, in particular. In addition, Egypt tops the list of Arab countries where the risk of assault is very high for solo women travelers.
Globally, South Africa presents the highest risks for women, where it is dangerous to venture alone. Ranked as the riskiest country, it is followed by Brazil, Russia, Mexico and Iran.
In Spain, on the other hand, the risk is practically non-existent for women traveling alone. The Iberian Peninsula tops the list of the safest countries for women. It is followed by Singapore, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland and Portugal.
The attack on the two Scandinavian tourists in the Marrakech region in December 2018 has tarnished Morocco’s good image, particularly in terms of security and tourism.
