Morocco Ramps Up Security Measures for New Year’s Celebrations

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) is deploying a significant security system on the ground to ensure the safety of all during the New Year celebrations.
Anticipating upcoming events and guaranteeing the safety of citizens and property, as well as organizing road traffic. This is the objective pursued by the DGSN-DGST pole, which has deployed a significant security system on the ground. This system will also allow interaction with citizens’ calls via command and coordination posts. Already, the police prefectures of the different regions of the kingdom have held briefings aimed at implementing the directives emanating from the General Directorate of National Security, reported Assabah.
The law enforcement units will be deployed in the main tourist areas and high-traffic public spaces. It is also planned to install checkpoints and security barriers on the road axes. Security will be reinforced in Casablanca and Marrakech. These preventive and proactive measures are mainly aimed at ensuring a spatial security grid of the red city, preserving public order, guaranteeing the safety and security of citizens, ensuring the fluidity of road traffic, and better securing these year-end celebrations "at the level of this essential capital of world tourism, which positions itself, on such occasions, as the preferred destination for national and foreign tourists, but also for the global jet-set."
