Morocco Ramps Up COVID-19 Testing to 20,000 Daily Screenings, Detects More Cases

During a press briefing, Hind Ezzine noted that the laboratories’ performance of more than 20,000 screening tests per day allows for the observation of the high number of positive Covid-19 cases detected. However, while providing details on the various modes of contamination, the head of the Epidemiological Diseases Service at the Epidemiology Directorate affirms that the response is there.
According to this official from the Ministry of Health, some cases have been detected after the manifestation of Covid-19 symptoms. Those who have been in contact with the infected have been detected through the epidemiological monitoring and follow-up system. Asymptomatic positive cases, i.e. those who did not show any symptoms initially, were known thanks to the anticipatory screening strategy adopted by the Ministry of Health. This measure, which accompanies the gradual lifting of confinement, will help prevent virus transmission.
Regarding the situation, Ms. Ezzine urges the population to strictly respect the general rules of hygiene and social distancing. This, she says, must be done at the individual, collective and professional levels.
Let us recall that thanks to the contribution of new viral diagnostic means, 563 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours in Morocco.
