Morocco Proposes Bill to Reimburse Travelers for Hotel and Airfare Costs

Mitigate the effects of business shutdowns and job cuts by reducing the pressure on service providers’ finances. This is the objective of the bill introduced in parliament by the government. As the effects of the pandemic are unpredictable, the provisions of the bill apply to trips scheduled between March 20, 2020 and September 30, 2020. Similar services without additional fees or "credit notes" will be offered to clients; which will avoid refunds in foreign currency and stimulate demand, indicates the bill. For example, Article 5 of the bill stipulates that the struggling provider could, instead of refunding the amount owed, offer the customer a "credit note" for a similar service of his choice.

The customer can benefit from the canceled service due to the state of health emergency within a maximum of 3 months after the lifting of the emergency and 15 days for aviation services, specifies the bill, which also provides for special provisions of 9 months for Umrah.
