Morocco’s Prime Minister Discusses Hirak Pardons, Regional Cooperation on France 24

Invited on France 24, the Head of Government addressed several current issues in the Kingdom and stressed the need "to have a rapprochement, a dialogue, partnerships, cooperation between the countries of the Maghreb". Saâd-Eddine El Othmani did not overlook the thorny issue of the Hirak detainees in the Rif.
On the airwaves of the French media, Saâd-Eddine El Othmani shared the vision of his Government "based on Islamic religion, national interest and national unity, democratic and social monarchy, and finally, a logic of political participation".
The Head of the Moroccan Executive also addressed the issue of the pardon granted by King Mohammed VI to the activists detained following the events in the Rif and in Jérada, but also to a number of Salafist prisoners. According to him, this is a Moroccan political behavior. According to Saâd-Eddine El Othmani, for the pardon of the remaining detainees, other "steps are to come".
Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized the pioneering role played by Morocco within the Equity and Reconciliation Commission, stating that "the royal pardon is therefore proof that this is the orientation of the country".
In Morocco, he confides, there is still "a quest for reconciliation and problem solving". "The country therefore has no complex to solve these problems by legal means, in order to move forward," boasted Saâd-Eddine El Othmani.
