Morocco's Prime Minister Briefs Political Leaders on Coronavirus Response

The Head of Government has taken it upon himself to report to the heads of the political parties represented in parliament on the actions taken since the first case of contamination was declared in Morocco. The meeting was held remotely on Wednesday.

The exchanges between the various leaders focused on the spread of the coronavirus in Morocco, but also on the means implemented to deal with its repercussions on the health, social and economic levels.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, this meeting "was an opportunity to broaden the circle of reflection, deepen the debate and allow political parties to play their role in the supervision and national mobilization to deal with the consequences of this pandemic".

Saad-Eddine El Othmani stated that "the King is personally following everything that is being done, and has indeed taken several proactive and precautionary measures that have prevented the worst in Morocco". Among the actions taken under the enlightened leadership of the King, the Head of Government cites "home confinement and the declaration of the state of emergency". He also "praised the national mobilization and the cohesion of Moroccans who are helping to overcome the repercussions of this pandemic according to a purely Moroccan approach," reports Hespress.

As for the heads of political parties, they "welcomed the national mobilization, as well as the specific measures and achievements". They also praised the initiative to officially inform them of everything that is being done to get rid of the coronavirus.

The leaders of the political parties took advantage of the opportunity of this remote meeting to "inform the Head of Government of a number of observations and proposals from the parties, related to this difficult period".
