Morocco Rejects Austerity, Opts for Economic Stimulus Plan

There is no question of an economic policy based on tax increases and control of public spending in Morocco, as part of the economic recovery. The announcement was made last Friday by the Head of Government, Saâd Eddine El Othmani.
The revival of Morocco’s national economy will be based on a plan that provides for the support of domestic consumption and production, said Saâd Eddine El Othmani. The Head of Government specified that there will be no question of embarking on an austerity policy. To this plan are added the project of a supplementary budget for 2020 and other measures and reforms that will make it possible to better manage the post-covid-19 period.
Moroccan citizens have no fears about what will happen after the coronavirus pandemic. According to Saâd Eddine El Othmani, Morocco should be able to manage the post-covid-19 period and make the "necessary strategic choices". The Head of Government was speaking during a videoconference presentation of the government’s vision for managing the post-coronavirus period in the economic sector, to the heads of non-parliamentary parties. He also emphasized the important and relevant reforms contained in the amended finance law for the year 2020 which will be presented in the coming days to save the economic sector.
