Morocco Set to Extend COVID-19 State of Emergency for 4 More Weeks

The Moroccan government is preparing to extend the state of emergency for four weeks, according to a source close to the Executive.
At the end of the government council meeting held this Friday, April 17, 2020 under the chairmanship of the Head of Government, Saâdeddine El Othmani, several decisions were made in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic.
During this weekly government meeting, the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, presented a draft extension of the state of health emergency in Morocco for a new period as of the end of the first period, next Monday. However, no official decision has been made so far, reports Hespress.
According to the same source, the extension of the state of emergency in order to curb the peak of the epidemic, should still last four weeks. In addition, the decree could be signed remotely by the Head of Government and this could require a government council at the end of this week or during the day on Monday.
