Morocco, the preferred destination for European tourists in motorhomes

These tourists, including retirees, see Morocco as a "leading tourist destination". According to forecasts, the kingdom is expected to welcome a significant number of European tourists traveling with their motorhomes during the period from December to next February. Many tourists with their motorhomes are currently staying in the southeast and central regions, as well as in other parts of Morocco, taking advantage of rest areas and spaces offering various services, including accommodation.

For several months now, specialized digital platforms have been promoting Morocco as a destination for motorhome travel, providing information to tourists who are taking this type of trip for the first time. A French tourist who arrived in Morocco about three weeks ago with her husband stated in one of her posts that she had visited "the deserts of the southeast, particularly in Merzouga", and "received a warm welcome from the service providers in the region".

A European tourist plans to "add other destinations and cities to her itinerary in Morocco during the months of January and February, including Chefchaouen, Ouarzazate and Essaouira", but indicates that she "fears facing snow during this period". Cécile, another tourist, announced that she would be visiting Morocco for the first time in early January, specifying that she would visit the city of Agadir, in the south of the kingdom.

Miguel, a 50-year-old tourist from Lisbon, plans to tour Morocco with his motorhome. Mostly retirees, these European tourists are inquiring about the procedures, necessary authorizations and cost of traveling to Morocco by ferry, departing from French or Spanish ports. European retirees constitute a significant portion of the tourists visiting Morocco, estimated at around 15 million at the end of September, an increase of 15% compared to the same period in 2024.
