Morocco Police Bust Major Drug Ring: 7 Tons of Cannabis Seized, 6 Arrested

Six people involved in an active network in the cultivation, production and trafficking of drugs were arrested on Friday and Saturday by the police in the Ouezzane region.
"Two suspects were apprehended in the act of attempting to traffic 17 kilograms of chira (cannabis resin)," says the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a statement, adding that "the search operations carried out in coordination with the services of the Royal Gendarmerie in the native douar of the two defendants, Mzou, under the Caïdat Brikcha, in the vicinity of Ouazzane, made it possible to seize seven tons of kif stems as well as an additional 30 kilograms of chira."
The investigation also made it possible to apprehend 4 other individuals "with criminal records, for their alleged involvement in this criminal network active in drug trafficking" and to seize "two water extraction engines and a vehicle used to transport the drugs."
Investigations are continuing in an attempt to arrest any accomplices.
