Morocco plans to complete the construction of a large stadium in Casablanca by 2028 to host the 2030 World Cup final, which it is organizing with Spain and Portugal.
Called The Great African Stadium, the infrastructure will be built in Benslimane, near Casablanca, and is expected to require an investment of 500 million euros. Ultimately, this stadium with a capacity of 113,000 spectators will be the second largest in the world. Construction of the jewel is expected to start in 2025 and be completed three years later, in 2028.
Morocco is accelerating the construction of this large stadium to convince FIFA to have the 2030 World Cup final played there. For the moment, the international football body seems to be retaining the Santiago Bernabéu, the home of Real Madrid, to host the last match of this World Cup.
As part of the organization of this competition, Morocco has also planned to completely renovate five other stadiums, starting with the one in Marrakech, whose capacity will be increased to 60,000 seats. At the end of the work, the four other stadiums will each have a capacity of around 50,000 seats.
Meanwhile, Spain is working to increase from ten to eleven the number of stadiums that will host the matches of the competition. On Saturday, October 28, the official ceremony to present the host countries of the 2030 World Cup will take place in Rabat, in the presence of the presidents and members of the federations of the three countries.
