Morocco Plans New Highway to Link Fez and Marrakech by 2030 World Cup

Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, announced the launch next month of studies for the future highway connecting Fez to Marrakech passing through Khenifra and Beni Mellal.

Nizar Baraka made this announcement during a meeting of the Istiqlal party held on Monday in Fez, reports Médias24. The studies for this highway project will start next month with the support of a specialized consulting firm, said the Minister of Equipment and Water.

The implementation of this project will be accelerated in the perspective of the 2030 World Cup. The future highway will reduce travel time between the north and center of the kingdom and boost the local economy of the regions it will cross.

The government member also took the opportunity to mention other related road projects, including the duplication of the Fez-Taounate road, as well as that of the Fez-Ifrane road via Imouzzer, not to mention the rehabilitation and modernization projects of sports, road and urban infrastructures in the city of Fez.

The official assured that Moroccan companies will be involved in the realization of these infrastructures, the objective being to create jobs and promote the economic development of the regions impacted by these projects.
