Morocco Plans Major Highway Linking Fez to Marrakech, Boosting World Cup 2030 Preparations

The Fez-Marrakech highway project via Béni Mellal and Khénifra is about to become a reality, connecting two regions and generating considerable economic impacts.
According to several sources, the technical field studies for this new highway project should start very soon.
This project will connect several major cities in the Kingdom, namely Fez, Meknes, Béni Mellal and Marrakech, passing through Khénifra. Morocco’s preparations to host the 2030 World Cup have given a boost to the implementation of this project, which had experienced some slowness and hesitation in the studies in recent years.
The study will be carried out in two sections: the Béni Mellal-Khénifra section and the Khénifra-Meknes-Fez section. Preliminary estimates indicate that this project will have a major positive impact on the flow of tourism and trade between these important cities, in addition to significantly reducing travel time.
In view of the World Cup that Morocco is to host in 2030, many infrastructure projects are planned, including rail and highway.
