Morocco Parents Jailed for Child Torture: 7-Year-Old Daughter Burned with Metal Rod

Prosecuted for torturing and burning their 7-year-old daughter, a family father and his wife were sentenced to 4 and 2 months in prison respectively. The judgment was handed down on Tuesday, February 4, by the court of first instance of Taroudant.
The facts date back to January 19, when residents of a neighborhood in the city were alerted by the cries of a child, following the physical abuse inflicted by her parents.
The search of the home by the police had revealed the father’s actions, who subjected the child to the worst tortures. Using a metal rod, he burned her body in different places, especially her genitals.
Victim of physical and psychological trauma, the little girl received medical care at the provincial hospital, pending the start of psychotherapy sessions.
