Morocco to Overhaul Leadership in Over 200 Public Administrations

After the ministerial reshuffle, major changes are expected at the level of the heads of public administrations. In accordance with the royal instructions, the Head of Government, Saad Eddine El Othmani, is working hard to make the necessary changes in the ranks of the officials of the administrations concerned.
According to sources contacted by TelQuel, there are more than "200 public administrations and institutions currently led on an interim basis, not to mention strategic bodies whose management will be renewed".
To go faster, Saad Eddine El Othmani could, in the Council of Government, appoint a number of officials to head the public administrations in question, in accordance with the Organic Law on Appointments to Senior Positions.
According to the same source, we could mention among them the secretaries general of the ministries, the central directors of the public administrations, the presidents of universities and the deans of faculties, as well as the directors of schools and higher institutes.
On the other hand, the appointments to the head of strategic bodies fall under the prerogatives of the King, on the proposal of the Head of Government and on the initiative of the supervising minister.
These major changes at the head of public administrations come in the wake of the ministerial reshuffle, which saw the arrival of several new figures in the government team, in accordance with the royal guidelines as contained in the 2019 Throne Speech.
