Morocco’s Ounahi Suffers Toe Injury in Brazil Friendly, OM Midfielder in Doubt for Peru Match

Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi was unable to complete the friendly match between Morocco and Brazil (2-1). A toe injury is the cause.
It’s a blow for Azzedine Ounahi, for Morocco who have to face Peru on March 28, and for Olympique de Marseille (OM). Performing against Brazil, the Moroccan midfielder of OM was replaced in the 64th minute of play following a toe injury. "Despite a broken toe, the enthusiasm of the public makes you overcome the injury. It gives you an extra, it’s incredible. We’re happy to see them (the fans) again to celebrate the return of the World Cup," he said.
Carried away by the fervor and the desire to be among the players who beat Brazil, Azzedine Ounahi wanted to hold out until the end of the match. But Walid Regragui had to take him out to avoid aggravating the injury. In the post-match press conference, the coach of the Moroccan national team mentioned Ounahi’s injury. "In the first half, we were at the level of the World Cup. In the 2nd, we were more in difficulty with the exit of Hakimi, plus Ounahi who was injured. But the players didn’t give up," he said, congratulating his men for breaking Brazil’s invincibility against Morocco.
On March 28, Morocco faces Peru in Madrid, Spain. The Peruvian team has been training since last week. This match will certainly take place without Ounahi, since the medical staff of the Atlas Lions have not given any details on his period of unavailability.
