Morocco’s Opposition Party Alleges Corruption in Professional Chamber Elections

The Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) condemned the buying of conscience, corruption and the use of state resources observed during the elections of members of professional chambers organized last Friday.
In a statement released on Saturday and signed by its Secretary General Abdellatif Ouahbi, the PAM denounces these acts contrary to ethics that discredit the elections. This involves the excessive use of money and the "blatant" exploitation of certain public projects and ministerial programs, to intimidate and influence the choice of voters. The party also denounces "the strong support and involvement of the administration of this ministerial sector in this illegal and unfair campaign, contrary to constitutional principles and democratic choices".
Abdellatif Ouahbi congratulated the members of his party for the results obtained in these elections, and especially for having conducted a clean and responsible election campaign, relying on the party’s resources.
The PAM, he says, will not be discouraged by these practices and will continue with the same enthusiasm and the same mobilization, the preparations for the next deadlines, reiterating its determination to denounce any practice contrary to ethics.
