Morocco's National Railway Reports Record 10.5 Million Summer Passengers, 34% Increase

The National Railway Office (ONCF) has had a very good summer period with some 10.5 million passengers transported. A record attendance, rejoices the Office.

Several sectors have taken advantage of the summer to get back on their feet after going through the very difficult Covid period. This is the case of the National Railway Office (ONCF) with 10.5 million passengers transported.

According to the press release, the National Railway Office is closing this summer on a positive note with a clear increase in the number of passengers who have used the train for their various trips. This is an increase of 34% compared to the same period in 2021 and 26% compared to 2019. "With an exceptional attendance in terms of the overall number of daily passengers, reaching 182,000 travelers per day, the performance of the summer period has concerned all categories of ONCF trains," the ONCF said.

As could be expected, the growth concerns more the Al Boraq trains, which have seen an increase of 67% compared to the same period last year. To cope with this record attendance, the ONCF has deployed more than 232 trains per day. "Particular care has been taken to diversify sales channels and strengthen front office teams to provide customers with information, assistance and guidance both at the level of stations, on platforms and on board trains," the ONCF said in its press release.

Proud of this success, the ONCF is already thinking about the Fall 2022 plan, but before that, it intends to maintain the Summer plan until September 18.
