Morocco’s National Coach Halilhodzic Retains Position Despite Recent Criticism

The subject of strong criticism after the unimpressive performances of the Atlas Lions against Mauritania and Burundi, the national coach Vahid Halilhodzic, contrary to the rumors, continues to enjoy the trust of the boss of the FRMF, Fouzi Lekjaa.
After the last two matches of the Moroccan national team, counting for the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations, some have suggested that the Franco-Bosnian coach would be threatened by dismissal. According to the daily Al Massae, a source within the FRMF stated that there has never been a meeting between Fouzi Lekjaa and Vahid Halilhodzic to take stock of these qualifying rounds.
For him, the rumor that had been mentioned by several media is unfounded. At the level of the Federation, the qualification of Morocco for the next CAN, which will take place in Cameroon in 2022, was one of the objectives set by the FRMF for the coach. He succeeded in it and should not worry about his stay at the head of the Atlas Lions.
The same source adds that Lekjaa and Halilhodzic often work together and do not need to organize meetings to talk about such sensitive issues as those mentioned by the media.
