Morocco’s Mazraoui Supports Atlas Lions from Afar Despite CAN Absence

Even though he was unable to travel to Cameroon, for disciplinary reasons, Noussair Mazraoui has remained very close to his former teammates. The right-back of Ajax Amsterdam has reassured them of his support throughout the competition.
Noussair Mazraoui confided in an interview with a Dutch television that "his heart" is with the Atlas Lions who must face Malawi on Tuesday in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mazraoui took the opportunity to come back on the reasons why he is not with the Atlas Lions in Cameroon. For the Moroccan defender, it all started with a dispute with Vahid Halilhodzic. He explained that it was a misunderstanding. He also added that he "respects all the coaches" he has worked with, "including Vahid Halilhodzic".
He specified that he closely follows and encourages the Moroccan players present at the Africa Cup, and who defend the national colors, stressing that he remains convinced that they will all give their best to write a very beautiful story of Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations.
