Morocco’s Mazraoui Seeks National Team Return After Long Absence

The Moroccan international, Noussair Mazraoui, at odds with the national coach, has expressed his desire to defend the national colors again.
Snubbed by Vahid Halilhodzic, the Ajax Amsterdam player was absent from the last Africa Cup of Nations, despite his performances with his club. He has not played for the Atlas Lions since November 13, 2020.
Hero of the Benfica Lisbon-Ajax Amsterdam match (2-2), the Atlas Lion returned after this first leg of the Champions League round of 16 on his non-selection, without however detailing the object of the disagreement with the coach.
In an interview with BeIn Sports, the Moroccan right-back said "I would like to come back, because I know the supporters want it. Ridiculous things happened between the coach and me, there is no communication which makes things more difficult. [...] I tell the Moroccan supporters that I really want to play for the national team and I am ready."
If his call is heard, Mazroui should be called up by national coach Vahid Halilhodzic for the double confrontation of the 2022 World Cup play-offs with the Democratic Republic of Congo next month.
