Bayern Munich’s Mazraoui Eyes Return to Morocco National Team After Two-Year Absence

Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui seems luckier than Hakim Ziyech and could wear the Atlas Lions jersey again. The last time the Ajax Amsterdam player played a match with Morocco was on October 13, 2020 during a friendly match against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
With Vahid Halilhodzic, the player was only called up twice for the qualifying matches for the Africa Cup of Nations that took place in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6, 2022. His absence from the Atlas Lions matches would be due to his lack of discipline. According to the coach, Mazraoui had refused to play in a match, citing an injury when the medical staff deemed him fit, recalls Le360.
According to the details provided by the Ajax player in an interview, the conflict began "during the Corona period. Ajax had refused that I go to the national team, but Morocco insisted that I come. I joined the team three or four days after the start of the gathering," he had explained.
Since that day, he has been, he says, excluded from the national team’s matches. Yet the player has an interesting profile and is highly appreciated at each international gathering as in the Eredivisie where he has managed to score 5 goals and provide 2 assists in 18 matches. Noussair Mazraoui has all the skills to be part of the Atlas Lions.
According to some observers, the player could make his return to the national team and be lined up for the playoffs to be held in March. Morocco will face the Democratic Republic of Congo.
