Morocco May Reopen Borders with Spanish Enclaves, Resume Ferry Service in November

Morocco could reopen its borders with Ceuta and Melilla and resume maritime passenger traffic with Spain as early as November 1st, announces a Spanish media.
As of November 1st, Morocco could proceed to reopen its borders with Ceuta and Melilla and restart its maritime passenger traffic with Spain, believes El Confidencial Digital, based on the statements of ship workers and customs agencies in Algeciras.
"However, the government delegate in Ceuta, Salvadora Mateos, believes that the Spanish side still needs more time to complete the modernization work on the Tarajal border post, and to agree on the reopening of the border with the Moroccan authorities," the newspaper relativizes, even announcing a probable organization of a "mini Marhaba Operation" for Christmas.
In this perspective, "Spanish transport and customs agencies are already planning to strengthen their staff from November and some discreet measures are being taken at the port facilities in Algeciras and Ceuta," the same source informs.
The borders between Spain and Morocco have been closed since March 2020 for health reasons. Several reopening dates have been announced in the past, but have never been confirmed. The government delegate in Ceuta recently reaffirmed that for the moment, the border with Ceuta will remain closed.
