Morocco Mandates National ID Cards for Voting in September 8 Elections

Voting in the elections scheduled for this Wednesday, September 8 will be done exclusively with the national identity card (CIN) for voter identity verification.
"In accordance with the legislative provisions organizing the electoral operations, the Minister of the Interior reminds all voters that voting on the occasion of the poll to be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 for the election of members of the House of Representatives, municipal and district councils and regional councils, will be done exclusively on the basis of the National Identity Card (CIN) for the verification of the identity of the voters," says a statement from the Minister of the Interior.
The department specifies, however, that voters who have initiated the procedures for renewing their CIN "can also participate in this election by presenting the receipt issued by the DGSN pending the issuance of the new Identity Card, and this, after verification by the polling station of the identity of each person concerned."
