Morocco: Man Arrested for Rape of Minor During COVID-19 Lockdown

A 23-year-old man was brought before the competent public prosecutor’s office after being taken into custody. He is accused of raping a minor in the locality of Sidi Bennour and not respecting the confinement imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus in the kingdom.
The accused had gone, without exceptional travel authorization, to the home of his girlfriend in the Lemchahba douar, reports Al Massae. In the absence of the minor’s mother, who had gone shopping, he assaults the victim, sexually abuses her, and then flees.
Once back home, the mother finds her daughter unconscious. The mother complains to the douar mokaddem, who immediately informs the caid. The latter alerts the elements of the regional gendarmerie brigade. The accused was about to leave the douar when he was apprehended.
After being taken into custody, he was brought before the competent public prosecutor’s office. He is being prosecuted for raping a minor under threat and moving without exceptional authorization during this period of total confinement.
