Morocco Makes History, Advances to Futsal World Cup Round of 16

The Moroccan futsal team qualified on Friday for the round of 16 of the World Cup currently being held in Lithuania, based on the results of the matches played in Group F.
Following Argentina’s victory over Serbia (4-2), Morocco, second in Group C with 4 points, automatically qualified for the round of 16 of the competition. A historic qualification for the Atlas Lions, who are making their 3rd appearance.
The match that will oppose Hicham Dguig’s men to Portugal, this Sunday (4pm), for the 3rd day, will have no other stake than to determine the first place in this group.
A possible victory for the Atlas Lions against their Portuguese counterparts will allow Hicham Rguig’s men to qualify first in the group and thus avoid formidable opponents in the next round.
In the opening of the competition, the Lions had crushed the Solomon Islands (6-0), before conceding a 1-1 draw in the second match against Thailand.
