Morocco’s Futsal Team Advances to World Cup Quarter-Finals, Set to Face Brazil

The Atlas Lions participating in the Futsal World Cup currently taking place in Lithuania continue to rally many Moroccans to their cause, especially since their historic qualification for the quarter-finals. Hicham Dguig’s protégés beat Venezuela 3-2, and intend to reach the podium.
The exploits achieved by the Moroccans at the Futsal World Cup delight coach Hicham Dguig. Morocco has quietly and with performance made a place in the very closed club of the 8 great nations of the discipline, rejoices the daily Al Massae.
"After our qualification in the quarter-finals, the players expressed their joy while keeping in mind that the competition does not stop at this stage and that they will give everything to go further," he said.
He also thanked the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) which has been making efforts since 2020 for the development of the discipline. "Since our African title in Laâyoune, the president of the federation has closely accompanied the selection, facilitating preparation camps and organizing friendly matches. The federation has also provided us with a technical management that has trained managers and scouts. This allowed us to find the best talents to be competitive internationally," said Dguig.
"This generation of players has been working since 2015. Of course, we have won two African Cups, but we have decided to review our ambitions upwards and aim for the World Cup," he added.
Regarding Brazil, the Atlas Lions’ opponent in the quarter-finals, Dguig said that Morocco will not make a poor showing. "We will give everything on the pitch. We have players who play in the big European championships, and we must show why we are among the eight great nations of Futsal in the world. We will not be prey," he warns.
