Morocco’s Lockdown: Experts Highlight Potential Benefits for Mental Health and Family Bonds

The confinement decreed by the Ministry of the Interior in order to fight against the coronavirus pandemic, has some advantages for Moroccans.
Rather than succumbing to depression, agoraphobia, fake news, Bakr Harakat, an expert in psychology and sexology, mentions the advantages that Moroccans can derive from the general confinement. In an interview with Assabah, he suggests that they exercise, read, watch documentaries and movies.
The psychologist sees in this confinement an ideal moment for introspection, rapprochement between members of the same family and within the couple. For him, "it is quite normal that sexual relations between spouses multiply" during this period.
In addition, Abou Bakr Harakat advises parents to remain attentive to their children and to prioritize dialogue with them. Finally, the expert in psychology calls on every Moroccan to cultivate optimism.
