Morocco Leads Africa in Car Manufacturing, Producing Over 338,000 Vehicles in 2021

Morocco maintains its position as the leading manufacturer of passenger cars in Africa. This is revealed by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA).
With 338,339 units produced in 2021, Morocco remains the African leader in the passenger car segment, ahead of South Africa (239,267 units). A position the kingdom has held since 2017.
Morocco produced 403,007 units last year: 338,339 passenger vehicles and 64,668 commercial vehicles. This volume is up 23% compared to the previous year.
With 499,087 units assembled in 2021, compared to 447,213 units in 2020 and 631,921 units in 2019, South Africa is the leading vehicle producer in Africa ahead of Morocco.
Egypt ranks 3rd in the ranking of automotive producers on the continent, with 23,754 vehicles produced in 2021. According to data from the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), Algeria occupies the 4th place, with only 5,208 units produced last year.
