Morocco Launches New Vocational Training Center in Tangier as Part of National Skills Initiative

The launch of the construction work of the City of Trades and Skills in Tangier was given this Monday, August 17. The new generation of training centers is part of the Program for the creation of 12 Cities by 2023-2024.

On the initiative of King Mohammed VI, who had launched the 1st site on February 6 in Souss-Massa, the project, with a capacity of 3,250 candidates, will cover an area of 12 hectares, and will be operational in about 20 months.

For the realization of this social program, a budget envelope of 480 million dirhams, part of which will be financed by the Tanger-Tétouan region, has been allocated by the General State Budget and the OFPPT.

Laid out in sectoral hubs whose purpose is to ensure training adapted to the current and future specificities of the local labor market, the City will offer candidates 87 training branches, two-thirds of which are new. An industrial hub equipped with a small production line in Tangier, another for management and commerce with a virtual company, and a Digital Factory dedicated to the digital and offshoring sector.

The City also offers training in tourism and catering, in agriculture and agro-industry, in maritime fishing and in health professions, each of which will be equipped with experimentation centers.
