King Mohammed VI Inaugurates Souss-Massa Innovation City in Agadir

The Souss-Massa Innovation City, which marks the materialization of the implementation of the Regional Industrial Acceleration Plan, launched by the Sovereign on January 28, 2018, was inaugurated this Thursday, February 6 in Agadir, by King Mohammed VI.
Slowly but surely, this is a project dear to the sovereign that is being realized. Located within the premises of Ibn Zohr University, the Souss-Massa Innovation City will contribute to generating employment for young people and ensuring non-discriminatory growth in the service of the citizen. It equips the Region with a technological reception infrastructure, promoting entrepreneurship and the creation of new-type start-ups through its incubation, the enhancement of the results of scientific research and technology transfer and the agreement between companies and R&D structures.
Its realization cost 42 million dirhams and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The first phase of this area, covering an area of 64 ha, is 80% completed and will be put into service in July 2020. It will offer investors an infrastructure to international standards and at competitive prices.
Thus, to date, 211 industrial projects have been carried out, totaling a projected investment of 8.2 billion dirhams, resulting in the creation of 29,222 direct jobs. 187 projects are either operational, under implementation or allocated in the new developed areas. They will create 19,346 direct jobs, or 81% of the target.
It should be emphasized that during the said ceremony, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Green and Digital Economy, handed over to King Mohammed VI a box containing a book entitled "Industrial Morocco, a Royal Vision, 20 Years of Acceleration".
