Morocco Launches Summer Program for Young Diaspora to Connect with Heritage

The 13th edition of the Summer University dedicated to young Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), scheduled from July 19 to 27, was officially launched on Tuesday in Tangier. 60 students, aged between 18 and 25, are participating, representing 25 host countries.

Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this meeting is an opportunity for young MREs to discover the assets of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (TTA) region in terms of natural, economic and cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, reports the MAP.

The objective is also to gain a clearer understanding of the Moroccan system of values, which values mutual knowledge between cultures and religions and consolidates the foundations of responsible citizenship and adherence to noble humanitarian principles.

In addition, the participants will attend various workshops aimed at developing their communication skills, in order to contribute to the promotion of the culture of their country of origin, ensure its influence in the countries of residence and defend its challenges.

The program of this meeting includes conferences on the themes "the dynamism of development of the southern provinces in the light of the evolution of the national cause", "roots and wings: how to keep one’s Moroccan roots and make them a force abroad?" and "citizen participation", as well as workshops on "expression and eloquence", as well as tourist visits to several historical monuments and natural sites in the TTA region, the same source points out.
