Morocco Launches Alipay to Boost Chinese Tourism and Digital Payments

The Interbank Monetary Center (CMI) has just partnered with the Moroccan company AfricaPass to launch the Alipay payment solution, in order to boost Chinese tourist activity in Morocco.
Chinese tourism has a bright future ahead in Morocco. Indeed, Alipay, one of the main mobile and digital payment platforms in the world, intends to offer a great opportunity for the development of the economy related to Chinese tourist activity in Morocco.
According to Challenge, the partnership between AfricaPass and the CMI will allow the deployment of the Alipay payment acceptance project, the objective of which is to support Moroccan merchants in their digitalization and equipment process.
Very popular in China with more than a billion users, through the electronic wallet system on Smartphones, Alipay, a subsidiary of the global Alibaba group and Ant Financial Services Group, intends to bring significant added value to tourism activity in Morocco.
It should be noted that AfricaPass is a Moroccan company specialized in the implementation of technological and digital solutions for Chinese tourism in Morocco and Africa, the same source points out.
