Morocco Launches $200 Million Fuel Subsidy for 180,000 Transport Vehicles

Announced by the government a few weeks ago, the exceptional aid to transport was officially launched this Wednesday. It will be released as early as April and will take into account about 180,000 vehicles.
Thus, road transport professionals will be able to benefit from this support according to the categories, explains a government press release, specifying that registrations are open on the platform https://mouakaba.transport.gov.ma.
The objective for the executive is to mitigate the effects of the rise in fuel prices on the domestic market, caused by the continuous increase in international prices. The total amount of the subsidy is 2 billion dirhams, and will be paid directly to the beneficiaries via bank transfers from Al Barid Bank, the same source points out.
According to the categories, public passenger transport professionals will receive a subsidy of 2,200 dirhams for large taxis, 1,600 dirhams for small taxis, 1,800 dirhams for mixed transport vehicles in rural areas, 7,000 dirhams for intercity coaches and 6,200 dirhams for buses. For tourist transport, professionals will receive financial support of 2,800 dirhams for 1st series coaches, 1,400 dirhams for 2nd series minibuses and 1,000 dirhams for 3rd series vehicles (TGR/TLS).
As for freight transport professionals for hire, financial support of 1,000 dirhams will be allocated to tow trucks, 2,600 dirhams for trucks with a GVWR greater than 3.5 tons and less than 14 tons, 3,400 dirhams for trucks with a GVWR between 14 and 19 tons, and 4,200 dirhams for trucks with a GVWR greater than 19 tons, as well as 6,000 dirhams for the benefit of road tractors.
As for personnel transport and school transport, this category will receive financial assistance of 1,200 dirhams for each vehicle, and 1,000 dirhams for each vehicle used for school transport for hire.
