Morocco’s King to Review Nationwide Social Protection Plan with Stakeholders

The stakeholders in the project to generalize social protection will participate this Wednesday, April 14, in a meeting at the royal palace where the main lines of the reform will be presented to the king Mohammed VI.
The project to generalize social protection is under discussion at the royal palace. The royal palace has summoned the union leaders of the kingdom for a meeting dedicated to the project to generalize social protection, reports TelQuel. Initially scheduled for April 13, this meeting will take place this Wednesday at the royal palace. "All those involved in the field of social protection are expected at this meeting. The main lines of this project will be presented to King Mohammed VI," it is specified.
The Council of Ministers, held on February 11, had approved a framework law on social protection. An important legislative step for the implementation of the royal guidelines regarding the generalization of social protection for all Moroccans by 2025. "This framework law is intended to be the cornerstone and the reference framework for the implementation of the king’s insightful vision in the field of social protection, the realization of the noble objectives set by the king, including supporting the purchasing power of Moroccan households and achieving social justice," explained a statement from the royal cabinet.
The framework law defines the main objectives of the state’s work in the field of social protection as well as the founding principles and the necessary mechanisms to achieve these objectives, particularly in terms of governance and financing.
