Morocco's King Renews Call for Improved Relations with Algeria

The warming of relations between Morocco and Algeria is a concern for King Mohammed VI. He expressed it in the speech he gave on the occasion of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of his accession to the Throne.

"Also, we reaffirm our sincere commitment to keep our hand outstretched towards our brothers in Algeria, faithful in this to the ties of brotherhood, religion, language and good neighborliness that have always united our two brotherly peoples," said King Mohammed VI.

For the Sovereign, Morocco’s support for Algeria in the final of the 2019 CAN testifies to the proximity between these two neighboring countries. "The latest illustration of this proximity dates back to the Africa Cup of Nations, recently organized in the brotherly country of Egypt, during which the King and the Moroccan people, in a spontaneous and sincere outpouring, expressed their enthusiasm and support for the Algerian national team. They joined the Algerian people to share their pride, following the well-deserved triumph in this competition, because this victory, they felt it as their own," affirmed Mohammed VI.

On the same subject, the Sovereign stated: "This deep faith in the community of destiny, underpinned by a common history and civilization, encourages us to work, with hope and optimism, to achieve the aspirations for unity, complementarity and integration, carried by our brotherly Maghreb peoples."
