Morocco’s King Mohammed VI Rushes to Paris to Visit Ailing Mother

For this third visit to France, King Mohammed VI went to the bedside of his mother, Lalla Latifa, widow of Hassan II, who is currently ill, reports the pan-African weekly Jeune Afrique. No details were provided on the illness from which the sovereign’s mother is suffering.

King Mohammed VI flew to Paris just after his Throne Feast speech. As in 2020 and 2021, the sovereign has canceled this year’s festivities for the 23rd anniversary of his accession to the throne, in order to avoid a potential resurgence of the Covid-19 epidemic.
