Morocco’s King Mohammed VI and Trump Set for High-Level Summit, Boeing Deal Expected

Relations between Morocco will strengthen further under the Trump administration. The organization of a high-level meeting between King Mohammed VI and US President Donald Trump is being prepared.
A summit meeting between King Mohammed VI and Donald Trump? According to Bloomberg, preparations are underway to hold a high-level meeting that will bring together King Mohammed VI and US President Donald Trump as part of strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. On the agenda of this meeting, not yet confirmed by official sources, is the signing of several major economic agreements, including a mega-transaction with the American giant Boeing. This involves a significant order of 70 aircraft from Boeing for Royal Air Maroc (RAM): 20 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, intended for long-haul flights, and 50 Boeing 737s, designed for short and medium-haul routes. The agreement also includes local industrial integration programs, aimed at strengthening Morocco’s industrial sovereignty in the aeronautics field, while creating a sustainable productive ecosystem. In parallel, RAM also plans to conclude a second agreement, related to the purchase of 20 Airbus A220 aircraft for regional flights.
Morocco and the United States maintain good relations. Back in the White House, the Trump administration, which had officially recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara in 2020, is making the resolution of the Sahara conflict a priority. There is "a firm American political will to close the file before the end of the year," stated retired Moroccan diplomat Ahmed Faouzi in May. As proof, the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, following his meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita, affirmed that "the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco is the only serious and realistic basis for negotiations."
