US Reaffirms Support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan in Western Sahara Dispute

Massad Boulos, special advisor for Africa to the President of the United States, reiterated the Trump administration’s commitment to "a sustainable solution without delay, based on the Moroccan autonomy proposal as the only framework for negotiating a mutually acceptable solution."
"The American position is clear and unequivocal. We have expressed it numerous times in a direct and consistent manner, as in the recent statement made by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. It faithfully reflects the one expressed by President Donald Trump to King Mohammed VI," Massad Boulos stated in an interview with Medi1 TV.
He dismissed any potential shift in American diplomacy on this issue. "Any contrary information is purely unfounded speculation. The United States’ position is constant and suffers from no ambiguity," he assured, warning against attempts to manipulate or decontextualize official American statements. "No statement should be exploited out of context or reinterpreted outside of this clear context," he cautioned.
The special advisor for Africa to the President of the United States took care to remind that the recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara now constitutes a central pillar of American policy towards Rabat. He also emphasized the importance of the Moroccan-American partnership in promoting peace and security, under the leadership of Donald Trump and King Mohammed VI. The United States considers Morocco a "major partner" in the region, he added.
