Trump Reaffirms US Support for Morocco’s Sahara Sovereignty, Boosting Regional Peace Efforts

President Donald Trump seized the opportunity of the Throne Feast to reaffirm the American recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and Washington’s support for the Kingdom’s autonomy plan for this territory, proposed to put an end to this conflict.
"I want to reaffirm that the United States of America recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, and that they support the Moroccan Autonomy Proposal, serious, credible and realistic, as the only basis for a just and lasting settlement of this dispute," said Donald Trump in a message addressed to King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the Throne Feast, celebrated on July 30 last.
The American president also stressed that his country "attaches great importance to the strong and lasting partnership that binds us to Morocco." "Together, we are working to advance our common priorities for peace and security in the region, in particular by relying on the Abraham Accords, fighting terrorism and expanding the field of commercial cooperation that benefits both Americans and Moroccans."
And he concluded: "I look forward to continuing our collaboration to promote regional stability, security and peace."
