Morocco’s King Launches $400 Million Urban Renewal Program for Skhirat Prefecture

King Mohammed VI will, in the coming weeks, launch the Urban Renewal Program of the Prefecture of Skhirat, with a budget estimated at 4 billion dirhams.
As part of the "Rabat, City of Lights" Program, which required a budget of 18 billion dirhams, the new construction sites represent a continuation of the enormous efforts made in the infrastructure of the city of Rabat.
The Program, which has been endorsed by the Regional Council of Rabat-Salé-Kenitra, will span a period of four years (2020-2024), and will make a qualitative leap in terms of infrastructure, services and green spaces.
Several construction sites will be addressed during this Program, including the 5 km extension of the tramway line, the establishment of a direct rail line between Rabat Agdal and Temara station, the construction of three underpasses, as well as the opening of several road axes in the city.
In addition, redevelopment work will be carried out on the Harhoura corniche, in addition to the creation of neighborhood markets and green spaces.
