King Mohammed VI Oversees Essaouira Medina Renovation Progress

King Mohammed VI is making a visit to Essaouira, as part of the complementary program for the renovation and enhancement of the old medina (2019-2023).
The royal visit will allow close supervision of the progress of the renovation sites that will benefit more than 13,000 inhabitants of the old medina. Divided into 26 projects, the sites are structured around 4 main areas, namely the renovation of the real estate sector, the rehabilitation of the historical heritage, the strengthening of access to social services and the tourist and economic attractiveness of the old medina.
The work on the complementary program, developed in accordance with the royal recommendations, shows a progress rate of 16%, while the feasibility studies are approaching 75%.
The result of close collaboration between the Hassan II Fund for Economic and Social Development and several ministries, the complementary program for the renovation and enhancement of the old medina is part of the new generation projects that the Sovereign intends to generalize throughout the national territory.
