Morocco’s King Calls for Stronger Ties with Diaspora, Sparking Political Competition

In his speech delivered on the occasion of the anniversary of the revolution of the King and the people, Mohammed VI called for strengthening the legislative framework of the Moroccan diaspora. Since then, the governing majority has been vying for the portfolio of Moroccans of the world.
Who will hold the portfolio of the Delegate Minister in charge of Moroccans of the world? The subject was the subject of discussions during the meetings organized with the competencies of the three parties of the governing coalition residing abroad, reports the Arabic-language daily Assabah. All parties covet the position. As a result, differences arise around the proposal of a profile for the portfolio.
On the one hand, "cadres with political experience are seeking to present a new vision to integrate Moroccans of the world into the various constitutional institutions". On the other hand, other personalities who have deserted the partisan scene have renewed contacts with the leaders of these parties to propose to them the revision of the institutions of the Moroccan community residing abroad and the creation of a ministry dedicated to them, like the previous governments.
For the moment, nothing is settled. Substantive discussions on the subject will be held upon the return from leave of the Secretary General of the PAM, Abdellatif Ouahbi.
